Matty Healy Claps Back at Swifties Over Cryptic Instagram Post Linked to Taylor Swift

Matt Healy faced backlash from Taylor Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, over a social media post.

The 1975 singer shared Charli XCX’s “So I” song on Instagram. This song, which reflects on lost connections, led Swifties to speculate it was a nod to Swift. Healy and Swift briefly dated in early 2023.

A fan on X (formerly Twitter) suggested Healy’s post might be a subtle message to Swift, sparking intense online discussions. Another user criticized this interpretation, proposing a new term for externalized narcissism in fan behaviour.

Healy, apparently exasperated by the fan theories, endorsed this viewpoint. He liked a screenshot of the critical comment when posted on Instagram.

This incident follows a report by Us Weekly. The magazine claimed that Healy found humour in Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” despite initially feeling blindsided. The album includes songs referencing her past relationships, including her time with Healy.

When asked about the album, Healy admitted he hadn’t listened much but presumed it was good. His family hinted there was more to the story, suggesting unexplored layers.

Swifties have been vocal about Healy’s past, once writing an open letter demanding Swift address his controversies. Despite their brief relationship, it continues to stir interest.

Healy is now dating model Gabbriette Bechtel, while Swift is with Travis Kelce. The ongoing public interest highlights the intense scrutiny celebrities face from their fans. Healy’s message to Swifties remains straightforward: calm down and move on.
