Mika Zibanejad explained why he briefly left the Rangers' Tuesday night game.
During the New York Rangers’ 6-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night, Mika Zibanejad exited the game briefly with a mysterious injury, but quickly made a return.
Early in the second period prior to a faceoff, Zibanejad suddenly appeared to be in pain and a trainer helped him off the ice as he was hunched over.
Zibanejad immediately made his way to the locker room just seconds after sitting down on the bench.
Following the game, Peter Laviolette did not dive into what exactly happened with the veteran forward.
However, Zibanejad took the time on Wednesday to address his sudden exit as he reassured the media that he was ok.
“I just felt off. I don't know, just felt off, and needed a breather,” Zibanejad said. “And that was it. It was nothing major. So just felt off going into the face off, and I missed a couple minutes and came back out, finished the game.”
Zibanejad didn’t dive into why he felt off or what sort of pain he was feeling, but nothing major seemed to have occurred while he appears to be doing ok.
