Mitch Marner, Max Domi celebrate Hockey Night in Brampton with $14M going to new hospital

Marner and Domi captained squads for a charity game as part of the larger Hockey Night in Brampton festivities. Prior to the game, Brampton mayor Patrick Brown announced that Carangel Corporation wrote a $14 million cheque to the William Osler Health Foundation. The money will go directly towards a second hospital in Brampton.

“Hockey Night in Brampton continues to surpass our expectations each year and this year’s event has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Brown said in a press release. “The overwhelming support from our community, sponsors and the incredible lineup of players has once again proven how much we can achieve together. Raising $14 million to support building Brampton’s second hospital is a testament to our collective dedication to enhancing healthcare in Brampton. My deepest thanks to everyone who contributed to making this night a resounding success, and I am confident that the future holds even greater milestones for us.”

Team Marner defeated Team Domi 12-9 for those keeping score at home, with Brown taking part on the winning team. Marner’s team was coached by Doug Gilmour, while Domi’s team was led by Wendel Clark behind the bench. Clark, Gilmour and Darryl Sittler also held an autograph session prior to puck drop as the Maple Leafs were fully involved in this community effort.

Marner and Domi have spoke numerous times about the responsibility of what it means to be a Maple Leaf and both players were well-known standouts in the Greater Toronto Hockey League, before moving onto shared success with the OHL’s London Knights prior to graduating to the NHL. It’s precisely these types of things that allow the Maple Leafs to operate with the FC Barcelona-like mantra of being more than a hockey club, especially when they come together for a great cause!
