50-point scoring forward signs for $60.8 million

The Montreal Canadiens announced Monday that they have extended forward Juraj Slafkovský to an eight-year contract worth $60.8 million. The annual salary is $7.6 million.

Slafkovský, 20, had a breakout season wherein he recorded 20 goals and 30 assists in 82 games while playing on a line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.

Slafkovský was selected first overall by the Canadiens in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. His first season was tumultuous. He was thrust into the NHL early on due to injuries to the Habs roster. He would muster ten points in 39 games.
