New Orleans Saints take huge risk and it backfires in latest 2-round 2025 NFL mock draft for Kellen Moore's offense

The 2025 NFL Draft is just a week away. The New Orleans are still getting their plan together, following the news that Derek Carr may not be their starting QB next season.

In the most recent A to Z Sports mock draft that spanned two rounds, the Saints did not take a QB early, but they did add two offensive weapons, instead.

Saints miss on QB in round one and two

9) New Orleans Saints: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

New Orleans takes after the Giants and pass on Shedeur Sanders here, hoping they can make a move later on to grab a young quarterback option. Warren is sharply on Kellen Moore's radar right now.

Warren is a player that Kellen Moore and his staff have held a close eye on during this process. If New Orleans does not take a QB at ninth overall, Warren is on my shortlist of possible prospects that they will grab.

He's a fun athlete who legitimately did it all at Penn State, including throwing the football. I'd be excited to see him work in a Kellen Moore-ran unit.

Spoiler alert: the Saints do not land a QB with a trade up or their second round pick in this scenario. That outcome would create an anxious feeling around the Saints - because Spencer Rattler would become a likely starting option for 2025. It's tough to imagine this happening at this point of the offseason, but it could occur.

Derek Carr does not seem to be in the fold for the starting role due to his shoulder injury and reported interest in playing elsewhere, away from New Orleans.

40) New Orleans Saints: Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State

Higgins is a really intriguing fit for New Orleans to me. He's a massive receiver that moves better than you would expect. The Saints have valued athleticism plenty in recent drafts. Higgins checks that box.

Plus, he slides in alongside Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed nicely. The Saints brought in veteran WR Brandin Cooks for some more explosiveness as well. I would also consider cornerback here if I was New Orleans, though. Warren in round one provides a new big-body pass catcher, and the Saints still need more help in their secondary.

We will see how New Orleans navigates the first couple of rounds of this draft. Those decisions may shape their long-term future on offense in multiple ways.
