New Sabres Forward Is Team's Latest Breakout Candidate

This Buffalo Sabres newcomer has the potential to hit a new level.

The Buffalo Sabres have made several additions to their roster this offseason. When looking at the new guys they have brought in, forward Ryan McLeod is among the most intriguing.

Heading into the summer, one of the Sabres' top objectives was to upgrade at the third-line center spot. In the end, they did just that by bringing in McLeod. While they notably gave up former top prospect Matthew Savoie in the move, McLeod has the potential to be a solid addition to the Sabres' roster. It also does not hurt that they added an interesting prospect in Tyler Tullio as a part of the deal.

At 24 years old, McLeod still has time to hit a new level with the Sabres. Sometimes, players benefit from a change of scenery, and the Mississauga, Ontario, native could do just that in Buffalo. This is especially so when noting that he has the potential to receive more opportunities with the Sabres, as their forward group is not as deep as Edmonton's.

McLeod posted new career highs with 12 goals, 18 assists, and 30 points in 81 games last season. Overall, it was a solid year for the 6-foot-3 forward, but the potential for him to hit a new level offensively is there.

It will now be fascinating to see what kind of season McLeod puts together for the Sabres in 2024-25. If he takes that next step and blossoms into a more impactful offensive threat, he would make the Sabres' depth down the middle lethal.
