NFL expert explains why the hype around the Houston Texans is as real as it gets

The Houston Texans have done a lot of work this offseason to get to where they are now. As we await training camp, which is just a few short weeks away because of the Texans starting early with the Hall of Fame Game, it's clear the Texans are a Super Bowl contender. This is territory that they really aren't used to being in.

But, they do deserve to be in the same company as teams like the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and others. They went from a three-win team in 2022, to a playoff-winning team in 2023 with a rookie head coach and rookie quarterback leading the way. Then, they added a ton of pieces this offseason through free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft, which will only make them better roster-wise.

So, sure, they deserve to be in the conversation as a Super Bowl contender. The hype around the 2024 Houston Texans is very real.

"Well, yeah, they have shown it already," NFL expert Daniel Jeremiah said on the Rich Eisen Show. "My thing is, the scary part about the Texans is, if Tank Dell stays healthy, and you can get him through a full 17 [games], and now you incorporate Stefon Diggs, and you just get a normal jump from, you know, year one to year two with C.J. Stroud, and okay, we have a chance to talk about a top three offense in the NFL.

"They have that type of capability. If they start at that point this year where they left off, I don't see why they can't be one of the best offenses in the NFL, and then they have so many young pieces on defense with a couple of stars."

The Houston Texans have never even made a Super Bowl. This could very well be the year. Now, a lot of things need to go their way for that to happen. And, they have to go through the Kansas City Chiefs first, who are trying to do the first-ever three-peat.

If there is a team fit in the AFC to take on Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid, and the Chiefs, it's the Texans. The addition of Stefon Diggs and Danielle Hunter makes this team one to be feared, especially in the AFC South. Now, it's all about putting the pieces together.
