The NHL announced an official verdict on Jacob Trouba's controversial hit on Montreal Canadiens' young defenseman Justin Barron.

On Tuesday night, the New York Rangers were in Montreal to face the Canadiens after spending the weekend partying in the city. They delivered a solid team effort to win 7-2 against former Rangers player Martin St. Louis and his men.

In the third period of the game, Rangers captain Jacob Trouba landed yet another controversial hit. He sent the Habs' young defenseman Justin Barron to the locker room with a shoulder hit to the head.
