"NHL News: Ex-Lightning Forward Becomes Rangers Hero"

This former Lightning forward is making a massive impact for the Rangers.

The 2023-24 regular season was challenging for former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Barclay Goodrow. The 31-year-old struggled significantly with the New York Rangers, posting four goals, eight assists, and a minus-13 rating in 80 games. It was a big drop-off from his 2022-23 production, as he had 11 goals and 31 points.

Rangers leaving door open for possible Barclay Goodrow return

While Goodrow struggled this regular season, he has made up for it big time for the Rangers in the playoffs. In fact, he has been one of their most impactful offensive contributors. This is especially true so far in their series against the Florida Panthers.

In Game 2 against the Panthers, Goodrow scored the overtime winner, beating Sergei Bobrovsky top shelf with a perfectly placed snapshot. This tied the series up at 1-1.

Goodrow then followed up his heroic goal in Game 2 with another tremendous performance in Game 3. The gritty forward put together a two-goal night, with one being a shorthanded tally.

Goodrow is playing some of the best hockey of his career this postseason, and the truth is in his stats. He now has six goals, eight points, and a plus-4 rating in 13 playoff games. Seeing what he does for an encore from here will be fun.
