Working as an actress always feels like a privilege, but some moments are simply more magical than others. One of those moments for me was playing Dick Van Dyke’s granddaughter on Days of Our Lives—a surreal and unforgettable experience that still gives me chills.
Growing up, I adored Dick Van Dyke. His charisma, energy, and timeless talent made him a legend in my eyes. So when I learned that I’d be playing his granddaughter, I was equal parts ecstatic and nervous. Stepping onto the Days of Our Lives set that first day, I couldn’t believe I was about to share scenes with an icon I had admired for so long.
From the very beginning, Dick was everything I had hoped for—kind, hilarious, and endlessly professional. Between takes, he shared stories from his incredible career, weaving together anecdotes that spanned decades of Hollywood history. It felt like being in a master class in both acting and life.
One moment that stands out was a quiet conversation we had between scenes. He turned to me with that signature twinkle in his eye and said, “You know, the best thing about this business is that it keeps you young. The moment you stop playing is the moment you stop living.” That wisdom stuck with me, a lesson I carry into every role I take on.
The entire experience was like stepping into a dream—a dream that I didn’t want to wake up from. Playing his granddaughter was an honor, but the real magic came from the time spent with him, absorbing his infectious joy and love for the craft.
Some roles are special because of the story they tell. Others are special because of the people you get to tell them with. This one was both. And I will cherish it forever.
