82-game campaign begins with Global Series on October 4
The National Hockey League released the 2024-25 regular season schedule on Tuesday, and the Buffalo Sabres will be prominently placed at the start, opening the 108th season with two games against the New Jersey Devils in the Global Series on October 4 and 5 in Prague, Czechia, but also has a number of notable contests throughout the campaign.
The Global Series will feature the first meeting between the Devils and their former head coach Lindy Ruff, who added defensemen Brendan Dillon and Brett Pesce as free agents and traded for goalie Jacob Markstrom.

Here are some of the notable home games on the schedule:
Thursday, October 10 – Home Opener vs, Los Angeles
The club gets four days off after flying back from Europe.
Saturday, October 12, and Monday, October 28 vs. Florida
The Stanley Cup Champions come to town on the opening weekend of the season, and then again just over two weeks later.
Saturday, October 28 vs. Detroit
Always an occasion when Buffalo native Patrick Kane comes to town. The three-time Cup winner flirted with the idea of signing with the Sabres before going to Detroit last season, but the 35-year-old never got to the open market this summer, signing a one-year deal with the Wings before July 1.
Friday, December 20 vs. Toronto
It is always a fun atmosphere when the arch-rival Leafs come to town, especially when the building is more than half-filled with Toronto fans. The game is on a Friday just before Christmas, so expect it to be loud and boisterous.
Monday, March 10 vs. Edmonton
The annual visit of Connor McDavid became just a little bit more intriguing with this week’s signing of former Sabre Jeff Skinner, who was bought on June 30 and signed a one-year deal with the Oilers.
Saturday, March 15 vs. Vegas
In the same week that McDavid swings through Buffalo, former Sabres captain Jack Eichel comes to town, but the addition of ex-Sabre Victor Olofsson to the Golden Knights roster could make the atmosphere more saucy.
