Packers Predicted to Trade Up For Star in 2025 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers hold the No. 23 pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft following a trip to the postseason. While nobody knows for sure what the Packers will do in the first round, many have speculated that the team will look to add more defense.

Green Bay specifically needs more help at the cornerback position. But due to the high demand around the league, there may not be enough top-tier players to go around.

In his latest NFL mock draft, insider Chad Reuter predicted the Packers to trade up to land a star wide reciever with multiple cornerbacks off the board. In this mock, Green Bay would be trading with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to move up to pick No. 19, landing star Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State.

"We haven't seen the Packers draft a receiver in Round 1 since 2002 -- but we did see them move up in Round 2 for Christian Watson three years ago. With the top cornerbacks no longer available in this mock, Green Bay swaps a third-round pick for a fifth-rounder to nab Egbuka."

If the Packers were able to land Egbuka, it could completely change the offense. Egbuka starred at Ohio State this past season, putting up 1011 yards and 10 touchdowns for the champion Buckeyes.

Egbuka would join an already strong receiving cast, giving the Packers a boost. But giving quarterback Jordan Love this type of wide receiver could open things up offensively, helping the Packers to space the field out.

This would also force defenses to take the passing game more seriously, potentially giving running back Josh Jacobs more lanes to run. Defenses wouldn't be able to stack the box against Jacobs as easily, making the Packers offense much more dynamic.

Green Bay already has a good team, but a move like this could help turn them into a great one.
