Despite only being teammates for a brief amount of time, Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko created a strong bond.

Kane and Tarasenko played together with the New York Rangers through the ending of the 2022-23 season.

Both players signed with the Detroit Red Wings this summer and it was no coincidence.

According to NHL.com, Tarasenko spoke with Kane before he ultimately signed with the Red Wings.

Tom Gulitti of NHL.com also wrote that Tarasenko's wife, Yana, reached out to Kane's girlfriend, Amanda Grahovec.

Patrick Kane on Vladimir Tarasenko: 'So good' for Detroit Red Wings

The two veteran forwards talked about the potential of playing on the same line together and it’s something that intrigues them both.

"It would be amazing," Tarasenko said. "We played against each other for so many years, and if somebody told me at that time we would play together as a line, I would be like, 'There is no way.'"

"I think it would be a good fit," Kane said. "I know we both are natural right wingers, kind of left-handed shots playing the off side, but I think when you're playing hockey it doesn't really matter what position you're in. So one of us would have to make a move, but I think it would be a good fit."

The Rangers acquired Kane and Tarasenko around the time of the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline.

Their stints in New York were short lived as Kane signed with the Red Wings and Tarasenko opted to sign with the Ottawa Senators.
