Quenton Nelson believes the Colts have found a special QB in Anthony Richardson

Indianapolis Colts All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson appeared on the "Bussin with the Boys" podcast with hosts Taylor Lewan And Will Compton. Where he discussed multiple things involving the team over the past few years.

One of those being his thoughts on the Colts' young QB, Anthony Richardson.

If you'd like to hear Nelson speak on Richardson, the video clip is attached to the post below.

Like many of the longtime Colts, Nelson has had to deal with a revolving door at QB. He was drafted in 2018, which ended up being Andrew Luck's final season before retiring. And each year since Nelson has been tasked with protecting a different QB as the team's expected starter.

  • 2018: Andrew Luck
  • 2019: Jacoby Brissett
  • 2020: Phillip Rivers
  • 2021: Carson Wentz
  • 2022: Matt Ryan
  • 2023: Anthony Richardson

That's not even adding in the other QBs that have filled in due to injuries over the years: Brian Hoyer, Nick Foles, Sam Ehlinger, and Gardner Minshew. This brings us to 2024, where if Richarson is the Week 1 starter, it'll be the first time in Nelson's career that he has the same QB under center Week 1 for consecutive seasons. With the exception of Luck in 2018 and Rivers in 2020, the QB play Nelson has experienced has been middle of the pack at best. As Nelson shared on "Bussin with the Boys," Richardson offers the Colts a QB that could be special if he puts it all together.

He has the chance to be the next elite dual-threat QB that we've seen dominate the NFL. We saw the flashes last season as both a passer and a runner. The second half of the team's comeback against the Los Angeles Rams, which came up short in overtime, had multiple "Wow" throws. And the team's Week 2 win over the Houston Texans, he looked to be on the verge of a monster day on the ground, with him rushing for 35 yards and two touchdowns on just three attempts in the first half before a concussion would rule him out for the remainder of the game. So now all eyes go to the 2024 season as we anxiously await Richardson's return to the field.
