Maxx Crosby Opens Up on Raiders Extension, Tom Brady’s Role & Offseason Uncertainty
The Las Vegas Raiders made a franchise-defining move by locking up star edge rusher Maxx Crosby on a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension, securing him through the 2029 season.
Crosby’s deal briefly held the record as the richest non-QB contract in league history—until Myles Garrett’s blockbuster extension with the Cleveland Browns.
Now, in the latest episode of his podcast “The Rush,” Crosby revealed what really led to the deal, including how part-team owner Tom Brady played a major role in inspiring him to stay in Vegas.
Tom Brady’s Influence on Crosby’s Decision
Crosby credited Brady’s championship mindset and business success as a key motivator in getting his extension finalized.
🗣️ "I look at guys like Tom. Tom is one of the biggest inspirations for me, and I'm not just saying that because he's with us now. The man is a damn billionaire now, or close to it. He's done it at the highest level, but his play was first."
He also admitted that while he never officially requested a trade, he entered the offseason uncertain about his future in Las Vegas. However, securing long-term guarantees in his contract helped ease those doubts.
Battling Through Injury & Looking Ahead
Crosby had a strong 2024 season despite suffering an ankle injury in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens. He played through the pain but ultimately reaggravated the injury in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading to season-ending ankle surgery.
