Raiders Sign Former First-Round Pick, Super Bowl Champion WR

Pete Carroll Says Raiders Will 'Lean' on Tom Brady During Search for QB

The Las Vegas Raiders have been active this offseason as both new general manager John Spytek and head coach Pete Carroll attempted to turn over a roster that won just four games in 2024.

Between several free agent losses and additions, as well as 11 draft picks and a collection of undrafted rookie signings, the Raiders are a completely new-look team in 2025. On the eve of training camp, they signed several players, notably former All-Pro safety Jamal Adams.

They were not done adding to their roster, however, as NFL Insider Tom Pelissero reported that the team was signing veteran wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.

Dorsett was a first-round draft pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2015 NFL Draft. He also won Super Bowl LIII with the New England Patriots during the 2018 NFL season.

This is not Dorsett's first stint with the Silver and Black, as he was a member of the team's offseason roster ahead of the 2023 season under head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler, who knew him from New England.

The eight-year veteran has played for six different NFL franchises, most recently the Denver Broncos in 2023, a bitter AFC West foe of the Raiders. He also played for Pete Carroll in Seattle for two games during the 2021 season.

All told, Dorsett has caught 151 passes for 2,001 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career. His best year was in 2016 with the Colts, where he caught 33 passes for 528 yards and two touchdowns.

Now, the Raiders' wide receiver room is seemingly complete with this veteran addition. This means that a potential reunion with Amari Cooper or a Keenan Allen signing is unlikely.

Dorsett will battle for playing time with Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker and a trio of rookies in Jack Behc, Dont'e Thornton Jr. and Tommy Mellott for playing time. He will also have to compete with veterans Collin Johnson, Kyle Philips and Alex Bachman.
