The last time the Rays reached double-digits in runs scored was during spring training. They did it again on Monday for the first time during the 2025 season, exploding for 16 runs against the Red Sox.
Tampa Bay opened a three-game series with Boston with their most complete team performance of the season in a 16-1 win. The Rays produced 14 of their 16 runs in the first three innings and recorded 16 hits, including four total home runs.
Yandy Diaz started off the bash fest by crushing the first pitch he saw out of the park in the bottom of the first inning.
Kameron Misner blasted his first two home runs since hitting his first career big fly on Opening Day.
Misner, who was 3-for-4 in the game, now has nine RBI and a .400 average so far during his first full season — he played in eight games after being called up in August last year.
Junior Caminero also went yard, connecting on his fourth bomb of the year and extending his personal streak to three straight games with a home run.
But not to be overshadowed by the long ball, Shane Baz picked up the win after allowing only one earned run and just two hits in six innings. Baz, now 2-0, struck out 11 Red Sox batters. He has a 1.42 ERA and 27 strikeouts in three starts.
The 8-8 Rays have two more left with Boston before transitioning from one American League East rival to another. Following their series with the Red Sox, Tampa will host the New York Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field, a park ironically named in honor of the legendary owner.
