In the many years of Real Housewives, we’ve seen our leading women meet with mediums, fortune tellers, and psychics of all forms. In some cases, those psychics have accurately predicted breakups and other plot twists that could only be seen from the great unknown. But have we ever seen a prophet at a Juneteenth barbecue dishing out advice while everyone sits around eating ribs and taking tequila shots? That’s new territory, and for that, we can thank The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
In The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 Episode 9, “Blame it on the Henny.” Cynthia hosted her annual Bailey-cue, and she felt like it could be a good way to bring the group back together after their chaotic cast trip to Nashville. Remember, that trip ended with Porsha threatening to have sex with Angela’s husband. So, can a prophet and a plate of ribs save this group from their path of destruction? Maybe!
What happened on Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16, Episode 9?

Fresh off their boozy adventure to Nashville, the women returned to Atlanta still reeling from all of the drama. As a few of the ladies navigated family matters, Angela prepared for “war” with Porsha. Meanwhile, Cynthia planned the Juneteenth edition of her Bailey-cue, and in the end, two ladies miraculously squashed their beef while out at Lake Bailey.
Cynthia launched an investigation

Episode 9 opened up with a monologue from Cynthia that felt … difficult to listen to. You could hear her reading the words off the page, and it’s as if all of those acting roles taught her nothing. In the monologue, she claimed to be clueless about what happened between Angela and Porsha in Nashville.
“I have to do some investigating of all the ladies to figure out how it all went to hell, chile,” Cynthia explained, with the cadence of a Razzy-award winning actor.
Sure enough, Cyn went around Atlanta, meeting with the ladies to get the two sides of the story. Of course, Porsha’s loyal subjects, Shamea and Kelli, tried to downplay the situation. Angela, on the other hand, felt like the ladies crossed a line by talking about Charles.
Fortunately, Cynthia had her annual Bailey-cue on the calendar, which she felt would allow everyone to regroup. She also teased that a “prophet” would be joining the party, and immediately, we were brought back to that Season 13 storyline where Drew had beef with Prophet Lott. Fortunately, he is not the same prophet that Cynthia hired.
Dennis the Menace got a confessional

The last time we saw the group, they were wasted and talking smack in Nashville. This week, they were back in Atlanta, taking care of their family duties. Kelli was randomly throwing a party for her dog. Shamea met with a potential surrogate as she considers expanding her family, and Brit helped her mom move out of her house.
Elsewhere in Atlanta, Porsha interviewed a woman to be an au pair for their daughter. Of course, Dennis jumped at this opportunity for screentime and joined in on the meeting.
He also weasled his way into a confessional interview. There, the producers asked him about how he filmed with Drew a few episodes ago. According to him, that wasn’t intentional, even though he was fully mic’d up.
“I wasn’t filming,” Dennis claimed. “I came to a session, and the cameras just happened to be there.”
Okay, Dennis. And you also didn’t plan to film this confessional interview, right?
Angela is ready for war

Obviously, Angela couldn’t wait to get back to Atlanta to tell Charles about what Porsha said about him. She already fired off an angry text message to Shamea. Now, she just needed her husband’s ear.
Despite all of the nasty things being said about Charles, he didn’t get frustrated about it. Instead, he just kind of shrugged it off. For now, he’s there to listen, not to participate. More Househusbands need to learn that skill.
Charles let Angela rant about the Porsha drama and didn’t seem to care that his name was getting tossed around. Angela, on the other hand, felt pissed. She said she was ready for war. Charles’s response? He said he wants a front-row seat.
Shade at the Bailey-cue

Normally, the Bailey-cue is a Fourth of July event. This year, Cynthia decided to make it a Juneteenth celebration. She told all of the ladies to show up in their Juneteenth colors, which Shamea took as a go-ahead to show up in full African garb.
Brit was the first one to arrive at the party, and before she could even get fully seated, Cynthia’s “prophet” appeared and started blabbing on about how Brit would be navigating some business moves in the future. Lo and behold, the producers show some unseen footage of Brit telling her husband that she’s planning on launching an athleisure line. Meanwhile, the status of her insurance business remains unclear.
As the ladies poured into the party, the prophetess continued her ramblings. We appreciate her efforts, but there was an elephant in the room. Angela hadn’t spoken to most of these women since Nashville. She had some things to get off her chest.
Within moments of bringing up the Nashville incident, Angela and Brit started going back and forth, and reminded us to never get on Angela’s bad side. She’s a shade assassin in training, and without missing a beat, she branded Brit as a “whore” with stretch marks around her lips.
Meanwhile, Drew sat in the other room trying to “protect her peace.” She was also a little mortified that the Juneteenth party had so quickly devolved into this mess. But, this is what happens when you come to the Bailey-cue!
Angela and Porsha’s semi-apology

Obviously, we know that Real Housewives are bad at apologizing. It’s probably somewhere in their contract that the words “I’m sorry” can’t come out of their mouths in a sincere way. Angela and Porsha took this to a new level at the end of RHOA Season 16 Episode 9.
In between prophet readings, barbecue, and an oddly-timed Juneteenth trivia game, Cynthia forced Angela and Porsha into a room to talk about their drama from Nashville.
It took some effort, but Porsha eventually offered a semblance of an apology to Angela. You could tell she didn’t really want to apologize. She probably knew that Cynthia wasn’t going to let them out of that room until they made up.
Energized by the progress that Angela had made with Porsha, Cynthia tried to have Shamea come in for a one-on-one with Angela as well. That session didn’t go as well. The episode ended with them, once again, agreeing to disagree. The olive branch has expired.
