Real Housewives Stars Who Could Have Been Fired A Long Time Ago

Fans of the Real Housewives franchise were left reeling after it was announced Kenya Moore was fired from the show.

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta star was let go from the Bravo reality show after she allegedly displayed sexual images of her co-star, Brittany Eady at a public event. “Kenya was suspended for allegedly depicting Brittany performing a sexual act at the grand opening of her Kenya Moore Hair Spa in Atlanta, from images allegedly found online," a source told Entertainment Tonight in the days prior to her firing.

After the news was announced, Kenya took to social media to update her followers, "#TEAMTWIRLFOREVER You are the best fans anyone could ever ask for, and I love you all so very much. Always and forever."

Kenya originally joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta during Season 5 and, despite taking a one-season break during Season 11, is one of the most recognizable Bravo stars. Kenya Moore's villainous personality, erratic behavior and frequent controversies led to her appearing on a host of other reality shows including The Celebrity Apprentice, The Worst Cooks in America and Dancing with the Stars.

Real Housewives' Firing Kenya Moore Exposes A Major Double Standard

Kenya Moore

Kenya Moore's firing led to a conversation about the fairness of the situation. Kenya is not the first housewife to act inappropriately towards a co-star, but it is rare that such an iconic cast member should be fired.

During the filming of the Season 6 reunion, Kenya's co-star Porsha Williams leaped off the couch and knocked Kenya and Andy Cohen over. Kenya pressed charges against Porsha, which resulted in the star being charged with misdemeanor battery. Despite this, Porsha was not fired and was only demoted to 'Friend of' for two seasons.

Kenya's firing was also compared to Tom Sandoval's behavior on Vanderpump Rules. “But Tom Sandoval can screen record Rachel ‘Raquel’ Leviss touching herself without her consent and end up on [The Traitors]????” wrote a user wrong on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, to which Kenya Moore responded to on the social media website.

RHOBH star Brandi Glanville took to social media to give her opinion on Kenya Moore's firing, noting that more physical altercations have happened and been encouraged on the reality TV franchise by producers.

"Women are physically fighting on RHNJ & that seems to be ok with producers. Where is HR now? Also [I'm] pretty sure producers pushed Kenya to show that video. They know what is going to happen before it does — Just like they all knew of [Taylor's] physical abuse as it was happening[.]"

Other Real Housewives Whose Troubling Behavior Could Lead To Being Axed From Bravo

Bravo loves Real Housewives stars who deliver drama both on and off-screen, stirring the pot and creating storylines that will keep viewers coming back for more. But sometimes, a housewife can go a little bit too far, and their drama turns into troubling behavior.

Mary Cosby returned to Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in 2023, but fans weren't impressed. After allegations that she was running a cult that encouraged people to give her money, Mary was not welcomed with open arms. Aside from her past allegations, Mary was slammed for refusing to take part in the show and body-shaming her co-star, Heather Gay.

The inclusion of Teresa Giudice in Real Housewives of New Jersey has long been controversial. The franchise's OG star is so popular that filming is centered around her and her many dramas, which have included a stint in jail. Not only does she have a public criminal record and spent time in jail for her husband's fraud, but she also refuses to film with her sister-in-law, Real Housewives', Melissa Gorga.

Teresa's co-star Rachel Fuda had admitted she wouldn't be sad to see her leave the show as she is a "bad apple." In the recent season of the Bravo show, Teresa encouraged rumors that Rachel's husband was dealing narcotic drugs illegally. Teresa has admitted she won't leave RHONJ until she is fired, no matter what fans and castmates think.

Among her legal troubles, fans of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills want Erika Jayne to be gone from the show. Many felt her involvement on the Bravo show was disrespectful to the victims who may have lost money due to her husband's legal misconduct.

The singer, who is embroiled in a case regarding her estranged husband's fraudulent activity, confirmed the show is now her main source of income and asked fans to consider all sides to the story.

“Why should I be fired? Why are you presuming that I’ve done something? Why aren’t we letting the legal process play out? You’ve heard one side—and a lot of b****** on that side. Give me a chance to defend myself. Watch me. I’m ready for the challenge. Watch me do it.”

Kenya Moore isn't the only Real Housewives star fired from the hit franchise. From controversial social media posts to a lack of on-screen presence, a number of housewives have been axed over the years.

  • Jennie Nguyen was added to the second season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. After her season aired, she was found to have shared numerous offensive and racist posts, including mocking the Black Lives Matter movement. The network would later apologize for their poor vetting and lack of due diligence during the casting process.
  • The Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd was one of the most polarizing characters in the history of the show. After five seasons as a main cast member, Kelly was fired at the end of season 15. The exact reason she was axed was never specified, and she was reportedly blindsided by it, but Kelly became known for her many controversial social media posts.

Some of Kelly's problematic social media posts included those mocking Black Lives Matter and COVID-19. She described the pandemic as "God's way of thinning the heard," threw a party during lockdowns and was seen wearing a Drunk Wives Matter shirt.

  • In 2017, Phaedra Parks was fired ahead of The Real Housewives of Atlanta's tenth season following a damaging rumor she circulated about a fellow cast member. The reality star invented a story about Kandi Burruss and husband Todd Tucker's allegedly planning to sexually assault Porsha Williams. Andy Cohen admits that the reason she was fired was due to her castmates opinion of her.

"The question that we look at now with Phaedra is, when the reunion ended, none of the other women wanted to have anything to do with her. So that's what you have to look at. How do you shoot a show about a group of friends when no one is speaking to one of the friends?"
