Boston Red Sox All-Star outfielder Jarren Duran has been named as a finalist for the Hank Aaron award. The award is given to the best offensive player in the American and National Leagues, and this year, Duran was definitely one of them.
Duran had a breakout season this year, playing in 160 games, with 735 plate appearances. In those appearances, he slashed .285/.342/.492/.834.
He hit 21 homers over the season, and led the majors in doubles and triples with 48 doubles and 14 triples. He had 75 RBI, and led his team with 34 stolen bases.
Will Duran win the award? Probably not. With already established names like Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bobby Witt Jr., Yordan Alvarez, and Gunnar Henderson, Duran might not stand much of a chance.
However, him even being named a finalist is a great thing. It proves his worth, and the Sox should realize that and extend him. He could be the star outfielder to lead the team to the playoffs.
Duran is nothing short of a superstar, and he is just getting started.
