His 22 homers lead all Red Sox minor leaguers.

Garcia didn’t appear on either Baseball America or MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 Red Sox prospect lists entering 2024. Baseball America now has him No. 18 in the system and MLB Pipeline ranks him No. 12.

Garcia is the brother of Red Sox catching prospect Johanfran Garcia, who suffered a season-ending knee injury May 1 that required surgery.

Other highlights from Saturday

~ Matt Duffy had another dominant performance in Low-A Salem’s 4-0 win over Fredericksburg. The 22-year-old righty, a fourth round pick in 2023, tossed 5 scoreless innings. He allowed only two hits and one walk while striking out nine. He has a 2.99 ERA in 19 starts. Five of his last six starts have been scoreless. He has allowed just two runs, 15 hits and seven walks while striking out 31 in 28 ⅔ innings in six starts since the beginning of July.

~ Kyle Teel recorded his first Triple-A hit Saturday. The 22-year-old catcher, who is ranked Boston’s No. 3 prospect, went 1-for-4 with a run in Worcester’s 3-0 win over Lehigh Valley. He’s 1-for-13 with a single, two walks and five strikeouts in four games for the WooSox since his promotion from Double-A Portland.

~ Infielder Chase Meidroth went 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and strikeout in Worcester’s win. ~ Lefty Joely Rodriguez pitched 2 perfect innings and struck out one to record the save for the WooSox. The Red Sox designated Rodriguez for assignment April 28, then he spent more than a month (May 11-June 25) on Worcester’s IL. But he has been sharp since returning. He has a 1.88 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and .157 batting average against in 13 outings (14 ⅓ innings). The Red Sox left-handed relievers have struggled in the second half. The 22-year-old center fielder/shortstop is batting .364 with a .466 on-base percentage, .589 slugging percentage, 1.055 OPS, eight homers, three triples, 17 doubles, 35 RBIs, 48 runs, 17 steals, 35 walks and 37 strikeouts in 55 games (251 plate appearances) since his promotion to Portland.

~ Right-handed prospect Wikelman Gonzalez has had a challenging year with a 5.57 ERA in 20 outings (16 starts) for Portland. But he tossed 4 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out four Saturday against Binghamton.

~ Lefty Hayden Mullins, Boston’s 12th round pick in 2022 out of Auburn, allowed only one run in 5 innings in High-A Greenville’s 5-3 win over Aberdeen. He pitched around four hits and four walks while striking out four. He has an impressive 30.4% strikeout percentage.
