Boston Red Sox's Triston Casas stretches during a baseball game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Friday, May 5, 2023, in Philadelphia. The Red Sox won 5-3.

The Red Sox first baseman will interview players during the MLB All-Star Home Run Derby for the MLB Network and ESPN’s Tik Tok channels and will also appear on the MLB Network during the week.

“That’ll be fun,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said on Sunday. “It’s great. It’d be better if he could play. We need him in the lineup, but I think since his first day in the big leagues until now, people see him different now. He’s not a guy where he is doing things differently. He’s a good guy.”

When Casas first joined the Red Sox, he ruffled feathers among teammates with his pre-game routines that included sunbathing shirtless in right field and naps in the clubhouse.

But since then, the 24-year-old has grown to become one of the organization’s most valued teammates.

“Very likable,” Cora said about Casas. “Great sense of humor. He knows the game and it seems like people him on their network.”

Casas was placed on the 60-day IL on Apr. 27 with some fractured cartilage which connects his ribcage to his sternum. Before his injury, Casas was batting .244 with six home runs, 10 RBI and 19 hits with 78 at bats. His last time on the field for the Red Sox was during a road win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Apr. 20.

The 2024 MLB All-Star Home Run Derby will be on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
