Red Sox Star Aroldis Chapman Has Update After Leaving Dodgers Game Early

On Sunday, the Boston Red Sox clinched the series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 4-3 win. With this win, Boston has come out on top in three of their last four games and is now 0.5 games ahead of the third AL Wild Card spot.

Despite the victory, not all went well for the Red Sox on Sunday. After throwing just 11 pitches in 0.1 innings, reliever Aroldis Chapman was pulled from the game early due to back tightness.

Following Sunday's win, the Cuban native provided an update on his injury that will impact the Red Sox's outlook for the foreseeable future.

In a bit of a resurgence, Chapman is once again looking like one of the most dominant relief pitchers in the majors. This season, he was named an All-Star for the first time since 2021, and he has been crucial to Boston's success. Fortunately for him and the team, Chapman does not expect to miss much time.

After the game, the 37-year-old said he suffered "just a spasm" and will be fine "in a couple of days" (h/t Ken Powtak of Boston.com).

“It’s just a spasm. It should be gone in a couple of days,” Chapman said about his back injury.

After signing with the Red Sox last offseason, Chapman has had a fantastic year. Through 41.2 innings pitched in 45 appearances, he has a 1.30 ERA with 61 strikeouts and a 0.816 WHIP.

With more than half the season in the rearview mirror, the Red Sox will look to end the year on a high note and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021. If Chapman can continue his impressive campaign, it will make things much easier for the team to accomplish its goal.
