Red Wings launched the Fireside Chat Series including talks with franchise legends to honour 100 years of hockey history in Detroit
As the Detroit Red Wings prepare to celebrate their 100th anniversary during the 2025-26 NHL season, the team is taking fans deeper into its rich history with a brand-new video series featuring some of the franchise's biggest legends.
The YouTube series titled "Legends Fireside Chat" features some of the biggest names in Detroit's history with the first episode featuring current Red Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman and Kris Draper chatting with TV broadcast Ken Daniels and Micky Redman.
Yzerman told the stories of his favourite times walking into Joe Louis Arena and spending time with legends like Gordie Howe that frequented the building and helped provide an unforgettable and educational experience for young players entering the league.
The group reminisce about their favorite memories from Hockeytown and all give personal stories from their favourite days wearing the Winged Wheel. There's no telling when there will be more parts to the series but fans will certainly be fulfilled this off-season with exciting conversations from a rotating cast of Red Wings alumni including Stanley Cup champions, Hall of Famers, and fan favorites.
The series will roll out on the Red Wings’ official platforms, including YouTube and Twitter, offering both new and longtime fans a unique perspective on what it means to be part of one of the NHL’s most storied franchises.
