Report Sheds Light on Jakobi Meyers’ Long-Term Plans with Raiders

Jakobi Meyers' Plans for Raiders Future Reportedly Revealed

As an organization, the Raiders have not had the best luck with star wide receivers. Randy Moss and Davante Adams both infamously forced their way out of town, and Antonio Brown had a meltdown unlike anything the NFL had seen once he arrived at Oakland's training camp.

However, the team added Jakobi Meyers before the 2023 season during free agency, and not only has he become a rising star in Las Vegas, but he has refrained from embarrassing the franchise in any way. On Saturday, ESPN's Ryan McFadden reported that Meyers had reportedly decided on his Raiders future.

"Meyers is open to getting a new deal done because he would like to be a Raider for the long term, according to a source with direct knowledge," wrote McFadden.

This is music to the ears of Raider Nation, who is relieved to hear that a top pass-catcher actually wants to stay with the team. Meyers recorded 87 catches for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns a season ago, and he should blossom even more with a capable quarterback under center.

Meyers and tight end Brock Bowers should be a formidable duo next season for new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, and another wide receiver is expected to be added in the draft as well. Ideally, Meyers takes a relatively team-friendly deal so that Las Vegas can continue building toward a Super Bowl, but regardless of what he is paid, at least he wants to be a Raider.
