According to a report, Wild prospect Rasmus Kumpulainen will be returning to Finland next season to play for the Pelicans of the Liiga.
Kumpulainen, 18, played in 41 games for the Lahti Pelicans Junior Team Finland during the 2022-23 season and recorded 11 goals and 34 points.
After he was drafted, Kumpulained played in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals. He recorded 27 goals and 53 points in 55 games. He led the team in power-play goals and ranked third in goals.
The 6-foot-2 forward was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract in March. His contract will start in the 2024-25 season.
Now, instead of going back to the OHL with Oshawa, Kumpulainen will go back to Finland to play for his hometown team. No need to worry Wild fans, this will be good for Kumpulainen to get some experience playing against older men before he turns pro.
