“My favorite part about being a realtor is helping people secure the place where life happens,” Gina wrote on Instagram. “Thinking about so many people losing that is heartbreaking.” In the accompanying video, Gina and her boyfriend, Travis Mullen, explained their plan.
“We’ve been thinking of ways that we could try to help in a meaningful way,” Gina’s boyfriend said in the video. “The Gated Group, along with our team, has decided we’re going to help anybody that has to relocate because of the fires from L.A. and are choosing to come to Orange County.”
“Whether it’s a rental or you need to buy a home in Orange County,” Gina added, “the Gated Group will represent you … 100% of the commission will either be donated directly right back to you, or to any relief fund that is helping to aid anybody and everybody who has been affected by the fires.”
Nearly 200,000 Los Angeles County residents are under evacuation orders or warnings per CNN. The fires were pushed by the devastating Santa Ana winds, which have reached wind speeds up to 100 mph. At least 12,000 structures have been either destroyed or severely damaged. As of this morning, the death toll stands at 24 but is expected to rise.
Many Hollywood celebrities have lost homes in the fires. Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag also lost their Pacific Palisades home on January 7.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Bozoma Saint John lost her Malibu dream house in the fires.
Even though actress Jamie Lee Curtis lost her home, she donated $1 million to relief efforts to help others.
“This is the moment to reach out to anyone who lives in Los Angeles, who you think might be in some sort of traumatic shock and grief about losing their homes and the devastation of their neighborhoods and communities and offer your hand, home and resources,” Jamie Lee wrote on Instagram on January 9. “We are going to have to come together as we may never have done before, in the City of Angels and help each other. AND WE WILL!”
