For the second part of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion, the huzzzzbands are on the set. Todd, for one, looks like he would rather be at any airport, anywhere, getting picked up by Bronwyn in a blow-up costume. Meredith sees this as an opportunity to clear her name, but as always, the drama spirals. In the end, it’s not the fighting that brings everyone to tears — it’s Mary and how she navigated Robert Jr.’s addiction.
Todd stresses how unacceptable it is that personal issues were brought up during the season, and so, no, John, he certainly will NOT watch his tone. Things are getting spicy with the husbands from the jump. Lisa tries to remind the group that once things are said on camera, they live on camera. She also reminds Bronwyn that she already apologized to her. In an effort to wrap the conversation up, Andy commends Bronwyn and Todd for their admirable attempt to keep Gwen’s situation out of the spotlight.
With this group, finger-pointing and blaming become messy quickly. Meredith is still being accused of starting the “Shawn is gay” rumors. She insists that Angie does everything Angie accuses Meredith of doing. For instance, Angie points out that Meredith rents, which she does, but according to Meredith, Angie says this to be shady.
Meredith is p*ssed that Shawn went on a podcast and said she leveraged Brooks’ sexuality to stop getting blamed for starting the gay rumors. Meredith finds this absolutely ridiculous since she never said the false allegations about Shawn to begin with — it was MONICA. Meredith points out that she would never use her son and his community to defend something she didn’t even do!
When the podcast clip is played, Andy states that it seems like the podcaster led Shawn into his response and that this sounds like a huge waste of time. LOL. Shawn explains that he would never disrespect Meredith’s son, but it did seem like Meredith was backpedaling a bit.
Angie swears that Monica telling her that Meredith repeated these gay rumors was on camera, and the control room clears Angie on this. There IS footage of that occurring, which sets Meredith off. Meredith demands to have the other audio played, the one where Monica tells Angie that Meredith was NOT the catalyst. If this clip is not played, Meredith threatens to leave since she feels like Angie has an “unwarranted, mean girl vendetta” against her.
To keep the agitated Meredith on set, the tape gets played. Monica states: “I didn’t hear it from Meredith, I heard it from the Salt Lake City streets.” Monica did in fact blame Meredith, and then in the next breath, deny it was Meredith. It’s hard to believe anything that comes out of Monica’s mouth. Didn’t we already learn that last season?
When it comes to the husband fights, John admits he is embarrassed for jumping in front of Justin and claims he did it to diffuse the situation. Both Justin and John apologize for their behavior, which is refreshing after the previous segment.
Regarding the threesome rumor, Whitney understands that the worst thing she ever did was say mean things about Lisa’s marriage. She realizes the gravity of what was said, much like Lisa does about her “circle jerk” comment. Lisa claims it was an analogy and she wishes she did not say it.
Justin states that he did not stand up for Whitney when Seth called her a “biatch” because he was trying not to get involved in the drama. He regrets not having a voice at that time, and Seth admits that it was an aggressive reaction. Seth blames booze and the heated dishonesty, but he reminds the group that there is no excuse for name-calling. He does, however, have no problem calling Angie a b*tch, twice, since she said it to Meredith twice.
Regarding Todd’s affair, Todd states that anything Bronwyn shared was more than he wanted her to share. Ouch. Everyone seems shocked to hear this was an “emotional affair,” and Bronwyn backtracks. Heather has a hard time understanding this version of said affair since she rallied hard for her.
Bronwyn feels backed into the corner and admits that the conversation with the women went too far. Bronwyn tries to change it up to point out that she does not feel good enough, which brings her back to a time when she didn’t feel good enough for Todd. To make up for it, Todd gave Bronwyn a ring with five diamonds and five promises, one of which was transparency.
During the season, Whitney inferred that affairs were a trigger for Lisa and Meredith because they have been rumored to have been involved in affairs, too. Meredith doesn’t want to be held accountable when Bronwyn’s story was not that deep to begin with. But what IS deep is the amount in which Bronwyn opened up to the cast this season. Some would argue (cough, Angie) that she shared more than Lisa ever has!
The current status of Seth and Meredith’s relationship is that they are very much together and monogamous. They are not together physically every day, and Todd points out that he also travels for work. Seth does NOT have a side chick in Ohio and yells out that his hands are the side chick. When the men exit the stage, Bronwyn holds Todd back for a bit, so as not to bump into John, who was a little “spicy” to him earlier.
The Mary segment shows her deep friendship with Angie and her openness about her son, Robert Jr. Mary bravely discusses the outpouring of love when it comes to her son. She hoped that his story would help just one person, and it seems like it has. All of it was unexpected to Mary and the fact that she was unaware scared her. Robert willingly went to rehab for 30 days, and life seemed much better upon his return home.
Everyone on the couch becomes emotional when Mary explains that despite what Robert Jr. thought, he is not a “stain.” It seemed like Mary was beating herself up for what happened with Robert. Robert Sr. is also broken over this, but he commended Mary for having this play out on the show, saying he was proud of her. Mary’s main goal is to make sure Robert always knows he can come to her about everything.
Angie explains that she was able to connect to Mary because of her mother’s addiction. Mary is a wise leader who finds the right things to say in moments of need. Whitney emotionally shares that after listening to Robert’s story, her children now understand why they do not have a grandpa due to his addictions.
To try to lighten the mood, Andy points out that Mary seemed more confident this go around. Angie was the support Mary needed to feel grounded, but Andy reminds Mary that at one point, she did also have a friendship with Meredith. Mary states that she does love Meredith, but their lives are very different. Mary explains that when Meredith did reach out, she felt the support.
Meredith denies being jealous of Mary’s newfound friendship with Angie, and Mary calls Meredith’s fake bangs “a little bit a type of suffering.” But Meredith laughs it off. Unlike the other comments from this season, which she has noted on her phone for this exact purpose. Angie has her scroll. Meredith has the Notes app. She rattles off the things the cast has said about her, but Angie reminds Meredith that she has also said some really low stuff to the ladies. In the end, Mary and Meredith give each other hugs, even though at one point Meredith felt like Mary’s disposable friend. Mary tells Angie to “get it straight with” Meredith because she loves her, and all seems okay. In the words of Andy, “Love a hug.”
