Philadelphia Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet is headed to the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Hockey Canada announced Monday that Tocchet will serve as an assistant coach for Team Canada’s men’s Olympic team in Milan-Cortina, joining a bench stacked with experience: Bruce Cassidy, Peter DeBoer, and Misha Donskovround out the assistants under head coach Jon Cooper.
For Tocchet, it’s another well-earned milestone in a coaching career that continues to gain momentum.
He's served as the bench boss in 638 regular season games across stints with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Arizona Coyotes, and Vancouver Canucks. He took both Arizona and Vancouver to the playoffs, and won the esteemed Jack Adams Award in 2024.
This won’t be Tocchet’s first time donning the maple leaf in a coaching capacity—he also served as an assistant during this year’s inaugural 4-Nations Face-Off (where Canada won gold), and he's represented Canada as a player three times during his career, including winning the Canada Cup in 1988 and 1992, along with playing 10 games in the 1990 World Cup.
