Sabres Set Price for Dylan Cozens in Deadline Trade: Report

The Buffalo Sabres continue to field trade calls for Dylan Cozens, but any team hoping to acquire him will have to meet a high asking price.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta discussed Buffalo's stance during a Sirius XM NHL Network segment on Wednesday, emphasizing that general manager Kevyn Adams is not interested in moving Cozens for draft picks or prospects alone.

"From Buffalo's perspective, they don't just want to give (Cozens) away for futures (draft picks and prospects)," Pagnotta said. "If they're going to do something, it's going to be a hockey-type trade, talent for talent.

"That's where things kind of get a little difficult to manage and agree on."

Pagnotta identified the Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, and Detroit Red Wings as potential trade suitors interested in Cozens.

That said, the insider revealed that "there doesn't seem to be a pathway to a potential deal between Calgary and Buffalo."

NHL insider Kevin Weekes had already reported on Wednesday that Toronto, Montreal, Detroit, and Calgary were among the teams tracking Cozens.

That report reinforced TSN's Pierre LeBrun's statement from Tuesday that "two-thirds of the league" had checked in on his availability.

In speaking to sources , I'm told there's been plenty of expressions of interest from clubs in @BuffaloSabres F Cozens including ; @CanadiensMTL@NHLFlames@MapleLeafs@DetroitRedWings . #SabreHood#HockeyXpic.twitter.com/EJGtKI36f6

LeBrun, however, added that while Adams is open to discussions, he is not actively shopping Cozens.

"He's taking calls because Buffalo is in last place and he has to take calls," LeBrun said. "But if he moves Dylan Cozens, who is signed to a long-term deal, it's going to have to be apples for apples, not just a futures deal."

Cozens, 23, is in the second season of a seven-year, $49.7 million contract and has 10 goals and 16 assists in 53 games this season.

"Buffalo is willing to listen," Pagnotta said. "They understand that they've got to kind of shake up things over there to get this team back into playoff contention.

"And Cozens is a guy that they're listening on."
