Saints call on LSU star in recent 2025 mock draft to help Kellen Moore build his offense of the future in New Orleans

The offensive line was constantly evolving a season ago for the New Orleans Saints. Injuries created a ton of combinations, and their best starting unit was almost never playing together after the first game of the season.

Addressing the offensive line is certainly a possibility for Kellen Moore's team early in the 2025 NFL Draft. They've invested plenty of notable compensation on their OL during recent drafts, but you can never have too much talent in the trenches.

Connor Rogers' latest mock draft for NBC Sports has the Saints picking a former LSU star to bolster their offense, particularly up front.

9. New Orleans Saints: Will Campbell, OL, LSU

In this scenario Campbell slots right into left guard for New Orleans, where I think his ceiling is highest. A duo of him and last year’s first-rounder Taliese Fuaga is an easy pathway to punching the opposition in the mouth in the run game.

This mock draft from Rogers is unique in the fact that it is a "what he would do" exercise, rather than a predictive mock draft. He thinks that adding Campbell to an offensive line with Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz, Taliese Fuaga, and Trevor Penning would make a lot of sense for the Saints.

Campbell was a stalwart offensive tackle for the LSU Tigers, but he would start at left guard for New Orleans in this scenario. Campbell's shorter-than-hoped for arms has pushed him into the interior OL discussion in some circles.

Others think he will be able to maneuver the tackle position at the pro level, even with some length concerns. Only time will tell how it works for the former Tigers star - one way or the other.

Campbell has met with the Saints already, according to his NFL Combine media availability. They have him on their radar. He's widely expected to be a top fifteen selection in round one.

Will Campbell is a very easy evaluation and might be the easiest to make in the entire 2025 NFL Draft class. He's an elite prospect who supports his very good athletic ability with elite technique. Coaches and scouts rave about his mental makeup, and he became the first LSU offensive lineman to be awarded the Number 7 patch, given to the team's top playmaker from Louisiana.

His biggest issues as a prospect will be mitigated with a move inside to guard, and that move can also allow his skillset to shine with his fundamentals and athleticism. In my mind, there's no reason why he can't be a plug-and-play guard in any scheme with Pro-Bowl-caliber ability while still on his rookie contract.

Campbell is ranked as the second-best offensive tackle in this year's draft class, via A to Z Sports' prospect rankings.

If Campbell was ranked as an interior offensive lineman around the space, he would usually be the top-ranked interior player in the class. His projection can be really impressive, particularly where Rogers would play him for the Saints.
