On Tuesday morning, head coach Kellen Moore said that the plan is for the Saints to hold training camp in Metairie. The team will look into joint practices to escape some of the Louisiana heat, but the bulk of camp will be at the team's practice facility. I've heard that going back to California is a real strong possibility for the New Orleans, and it'd make a ton of sense. However, we'll see and there's plenty of time before we get to the end of July.
The Saints spent a good bit of money renovating their facilities last offseason, which was the main reason why they packed up and moved operations to UC-Irvine. Even when they got back home, things weren't exactly ready for them to really host fans or even be at their own facility. They held practices at Tulane's Yulman Stadium and also a session in the Superdome.
Some believed Moore could have taken the team away from home to establish his imprint and such, as there were benefits for the group being together in California. However, they also dealt with a ton of injuries. They were supposed to be the San Francisco 49ers for joint practices, but it ended up not happening. That also happened the prior year when the Houston Texans said they weren't able to make it due to injuries.
Fans can certainly bring a good injury to the table, and players admittedly missed having them attend practice to give them some extra juice. We'll see how it all shakes out and get a schedule in the coming months.
