Simply put, a win in Week 13 is nearly required for the New Orleans Saints if they want to stay alive in the playoff race this season. It won't be easy against Sean McVay's Los Angeles Rams, a team that dominated them last season.
The Saints may be without their star center on the offensive line. Erik McCoy is banged up and could miss the NFC clash. Without him, it will be a lot tougher for Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara to find success against a talented Rams defensive line.
Erik McCoy's status
Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi says that center Erik McCoy is day-to-day.
McCoy is the team's best lineman, and the unit looks notably different without him. McCoy made his return from injury against the Cleveland Browns in Week 12 but suffered another injury during the win.
McCoy did not practice on Wednesday. New Orleans was off on Thanksgiving, but he was also not active in live practice on Friday, either, only doing some stretching.
New Orleans will unveil a final injury report on Saturday. According to Rizzi, McCoy will be considered a true game-time decision on Sunday.
