The New Orleans Saints are banged, up struggling, and frustrated. Unluckily for them, they have a short week in Week 7 of this regular season. They will deal with Sean Payton's Denver Broncos in the coming days. An offensive weapon may be available for the first time this season, though.
Kendre Miller expected to play vs. Broncos
Dennis Allen expects Miller to play this week. He discussed Miller's situation from this past weekend, when he was activated from injured reserve but was not active against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I anticipate him being ready to go this week."
Allen said that the plan for Week 6 was to have Miller ready if he was needed. That situation could've seemingly arisen if another running back had a last-minute injury issue. Alvin Kamara did miss some practice time last week due to injuries.
Regardless, this week sounds like a more "full-go" approach for the young running back. His pass catching ability and explosiveness could help Spencer Rattler improve upon his first NFL performance.
Not to mention, Miller's snap share could take some of the load off of Kamara, who has been the definition of a work horse this season.
Tyrann Mathieu's new injury
The top safety for New Orleans is dealing with a forearm contusion. Allen sounded positive when discussing his potential of playing agaisnt Denver on Thursday evening, though.
Dennis Allen did not have an update on Chris Olave. He left Sunday's game early with a concussion and did not return. With a short week, it feels like a long shot that he will suit up, but there will be updates to come regarding the wideout.
Overall, the Saints did not get a ton of injury updates on their off day on Monday, but these two positives could help them get back on track against the Broncos in Week 7.
