Sam Poulin records hat trick as Penguins rout Senators

   

Forward Sam Poulin had a natural hat trick and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in an 8-3 rout of the Belleville Senators at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Forward Ville Koivunen contributed a goal and two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (31-15-7-1) while forward Joona Koppanen recorded three assists.

Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 32 saves on 35 shots to improve his record to 7-0-0.

Acquired in a trade with the New Jersey Devils on Friday, forward Chase Stillman made his Penguins debut. Opening the contest on the right wing of the third line, Stillman recorded two penalty minutes.

The Penguins set a season-high for goals. Including a 7-1 road win against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has scored 15 goals in its past two games.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Syracuse Crunch on Sunday, 3:05 p.m.

A goal and two assists by forward Matty de St. Phalle led the Wheeling Nailers to a 6-4 win against the Adirondack Thunder at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, N.Y.

Forwards Kyle Jackson, Matt Koopman and Cole Tymkin each contributed a goal and an assist for Wheeling which snapped a three-game losing streak (0-1-2).

Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 23 saves on 27 shots, boosting his record to 4-4-1.

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Thunder on Sunday, 3 p.m.
