Scarlet Witch Will Be Resurrected In The MCU This Year

Ever since Scarlet Witch went on her villain arc, I've been desperate to see her redeemed in the MCU, and with Agatha All Along dropping hints, I feel more confident than ever that Wanda will return soon. The MCU is full to the brim with interesting characters, but ever since Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, was introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, I have felt like the character had incredible potential as one of the biggest and best heroes in the Multiverse.

Unfortunately, despite Wanda's incredible powers, the character has had more than her fair share of challenges and setbacks. Wanda was initially recruited with her brother, Pietro, by Ultron to help fight back against people like Stark, whose weapons killed her family. She soon learned she was on the wrong side, and began fighting against Ultron, but lost her brother in the process. Since then, she has also lost the greatest love of her life, Vision, which led her to completely break down and create a new reality for herself. Since then, Wanda became the bad guy, but Agatha All Along could change that.

Agatha All Along's New Trailer References Death & Resurrection A Lot

Which Could Be A Big Hint For Scarlet Witch's Comeback

The trailer for Agatha All Along depicts a compelling and spooky story where Agatha tries to regain her abilities and escapes the prison where Wanda trapped her in WandaVision. However, it doesn't explicitly reveal whether Wanda will return in the show, or to whether the characters reach their final destination. But, the heavy referencing to themes of death and resurrection could be a major clue that is pointing to the Scarlet Witch's big return.

References to bodies piling up, visuals of Aubrey Plaza's character coming out of the ground, and the eerie atmospheric song all hammer home themes about death and rebirth. After the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda appears to be dead due to her noble sacrifice, but Agatha All Along is the perfect show for her return. And considering it's the MCU, it's highly likely for successful characters to return, and Wanda was widely praised.

Agatha All Along's Themes Of Death & Resurrection Could Point To Scarlet Witch's Return

The Signs Make It Seem Too Obvious, But So Does The Story

Agatha with her coven In the Agatha All Along trailer

While Wanda's death appeared final, and it played into her redemption arc, there are still loose ends for her character. For instance, the White Vision is somewhere in the universe, ready to jump back when the time is right. Aside from this, mystery characters like the one played by Joe Locke have been speculated to be a version of Wanda's son, which means he may also need closure with his mother. Considering these factors, and the clear themes present in the trailer, it seems more likely than ever that Wanda will be appearing in the upcoming series.

The heavy referencing to themes of death and resurrection could be a major clue that is pointing to the Scarlet Witch's big return.

One element in particular that struck me as being a major plot point for the upcoming series was the frequent references to the Witch's Road. Locke's character in particular is used when providing context, and considering Agatha and her newly formed coven appear to be working as a team, it makes sense that they will all reach the end of the road. But the road also appears figurative, implying a journey towards something that they each desire most. If Locke is playing Wanda's son, it makes sense that he would be wishing to see his mother at the end of the road.

Why The MCU Needs Scarlet Witch To Return

The Multiverse Saga Needs Wanda Maximoff

The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) menacingly conjures a spell as the image of the Darkhold sets in around her.

The Multiverse Saga has had some ups and downs as it attempted to transition the MCU out of the Infinity Saga, but it currently lacks direction. There isn't a clear leader of the Avengers team, and most of the heroes have disbanded. At this point, fan-favorite legacy characters like Iron Man and Steve Rogers are deceased, and others are retired. If Wanda truly wants to be redeemed, it makes sense for her to return to a show opposite Agatha Harkness. And with the Multiverse trope already losing steam, a big name actor would go a long way to getting fans back.

Scarlet Witch is also one of the absolute most powerful beings in the MCU. Someone with that level of power is not only more likely and capable of overcoming death, but also a major benefit to have on the side of the heroes when a big threat like Doctor Doom comes along. As the Multiverse Saga moves further toward its conclusion, it's time for the biggest players who will be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars to start entering the picture, and hopefully, Agatha All Along will bring Scarlet Witch back, so she is ready to join the fight.
