Every day that goes by seems to add to the Mitch Marner free agency rumors, and now a shocking team, the Florida Panthers, have emerged as a landing spot.
Mitch Marner's Toronto Maple Leafs future is increasingly uncertain, and a new rumor could hurt fans even more.

Florida may find it difficult to fit Marner under the cap, however
The fit works out on paper, but fiscally, it's close. Florida is already operating at cap limits, having to re-sign playoff phenom Sam Bennett and star defenseman Aaron Ekblad.
Bennett, the team leader with 13 goals in his first 19 playoff games, has been key to the Panthers' bid for a second-straight Stanley Cup.
To let him get away for Marner, whose playoff production always seems to wind down, would be a tough move. Meanwhile, the Leafs are reported to be open to a sign-and-trade.
This would involve Toronto signing Marner to an eight-year deal and then trading him to a team of choice for a return while providing Marner with an extra contract year he was unable to get in free agency.
While his playoff performance has been questionable, Marner is on a career-high season with 27 goals, 75 assists, and 102 points. He's earned 741 points in 657 games and has a +128 plus/minus.
But his playoff performance isn't as elite: 63 points in 70 games, and in 20 career Games 5-6-7, no goals and seven assists. With July 1st approaching, Marner's next move could reshape the Leafs, and maybe a divisional foe.
