We had to cheer when General Hospital reintroduced ADA Turner in the February 25 episode. Not only is Nazneen Contractor a hella compelling presence on screen, but her character is a badly needed opposing viewpoint on a show that typically lets mobsters get away with murder — right, Cates? — and treats hitmen as heroes. (And the soap has had a lotta underworld types.
Obviously, General Hospital isn’t going to send Jason up the river for Cyrus’ murder. But, given the evidence at hand, planted though it may have been by Brennan, it makes sense for Turner to go after Jason as her prime suspect. And in contrast to Anna, who was downright smug in her defense of Stone Cold, Turner doesn’t see the career criminal as some sort of misunderstood Batman. She sees him for what he is: someone who has spent his life in the employ of the Don Corleone of Port Charles.
Not exactly model citizen material.
It was especially fun when Turner instructed Anna to book Jason and bring in his alibi. “Unlike some people,” the ADA said pointedly, “I’m not gonna take Morgan’s word for it.” Preach!
Now what we need is for the show to flesh out the character and give her a love interest. We’d thank the soap gods if she replaced Natalia in Sonny’s arms, but it wouldn’t track for Turner to follow in the footsteps of all the previous law enforcers who fell for the don (Hannah, Reese, Claire). No, she needs a good guy, and those are hard to come by.
One character we also rule out as a potential hookup for the first-nameless ADA is the one played by her real-life husband. And who might that be? In the meantime, check out the below photo gallery that rolls through Jason’s life and crimes.
