First O.J. Simpson was snubbed by the NFL. Now he's been turned into a punch line by SNL.

Snubbed By NFL, Bills' Legend O.J. Simpson Targeted By SNL

Near the end of the recent NFL Honors awards ceremony, the league produced a special "In Memoriam" video tribute. Honored by the league were players, coaches and personalities that passed away in 2024 such as ...

Vontae Davis, Jim Kearney, Roman Gabriel, Jacoby Jones, Jim Otto, Chris Mortensen, Frank Ryan, Marvin Upshaw, Greg Gumbel, Larry Allen and Virginia McCaskey. Curious by his glaring absence was Simpson, the legendary Buffalo Bills' running back who died last year at age 76.

Simpson was one of the greatest running backs in league history and a Pro Football Hall of Famer, rushing for 2,000 yards in the era of 14 regular-season games. He finished his career with 11,236 rushing yards and 2,142 receiving yards.

After his legendary career ended, Simpson was an announcer for league games on NBC. But then he was charged for the double murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. He was acquitted of all criminal charges in 1995, but that case remains one of the most polarizing in U.S. history.

But after Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary on Sunday night, fans of Simpson must be wondering if it's better to be ignored or turned into a punch line.

During the show, John Mulaney took an indirect shot at Simpson.

"894 people have hosted Saturday Night Live," he said, "and it amazes me that only two of them have committed murder."

Mulaney, we believe, was referencing O.J. and actor Robert Blake, who was arrested in 2002 for the murder of his second wife, Bonny Lee Bakley. Both Simpson and Blake were acquitted in court, but later found liable in civil lawsuits.

The executor of Simpson's estate has officially responded to the joke. Surprisingly, long-time attorney Malcolm LaVergne acknowledged that it was all in good fun.

"Steve Martin's monologue with John Mulaney was great, and John's joke about accused murderers hosting the show was very funny," LaVergne told TMZ.

The site went on to relay a message from O.J.'s executor that says "don't forget about Alec Baldwin, who was charged with involuntary manslaughter. O.J., Robert and Alec all beat their cases, and Malcom's got jokes too ... kidding that anyone who hosts 'SNL' can get away with homicide.

Somehow we don't think the families of any of the victims are laughing.
