We knew it was coming, but we had hoped it wouldn’t be so soon. While the good news is that Parmount renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for a fifth season, the bad news is said Season 5 will be its last. This seems to be the norm for most of the newer series in the Star Trek franchise. Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Lower Decks both had five seasons, while Star Trek: Picard lasted only three.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds takes place in an era when Capt. Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. With his Number One, Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn) and Vulcan Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck) at his side, Pike and the Enterprise will explore new worlds around the galaxy.

Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to premiere this summer on July 17, 2025 on Paramount+. Two episodes will drop for the premiere with episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays. The fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is currently in production in Toronto, Canada. Season 5 will begin production later this year.
