Anton du Beke has shared a rather unfortunate tale of getting stuck on a snowy mountain during a skiing holiday.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge recounted the incident on his new podcast, Putt and Strutt, explaining how he ended up in this predicament despite having no experience with snowsports.

His family recently enjoyed another skiing trip over the half-term break, but Anton chose to stay home this time.

He confessed: "I don't ski, so I just went along. It's a horrible holiday to go along on if you don't ski. I have no interest, and I'm so fearful of the old pins."

Anton then revealed that he 'wandered' down a snowy mountain, only to find himself waist-deep in snow and unable to move.

"They went up the ski lift back up to the top. Not that far, maybe a few hundred metres," he continued. "And I thought "I won't get on the thing, I'll have a wander – I'll walk up.

"I said, "I won't take that [the chair life], I'll walk up" he added. He admitted his decision was questionable given his lack of appropriate gear.

"And you might ask why, bearing in mind I hadn't got the gear on. I think I had a pair of jeans on.

"I had a snowshoe, just like a tennis racket on the bottom of the shoes, just like a normal trainer really, but you can walk on slippery surfaces with it, but you can't walk in waist-deep snow in them," reports the Express.

Recalling the incident, Anton confessed: "I got halfway up and got a bit stuck. I was like, "This is so embarrassing". I've walked up a hill of snow – everybody else is skiing in all the gear.

"I had visions of me being rescued on the side of this hill. It was so humiliating. I forced myself to walk up. I froze to death, I was wet – one of the most humiliating things ever."

It's not widely known that Anton once considered pursuing a career as a professional golfer, before ultimately deciding to take to the dance floor instead.

With a remarkable handicap of one, the 58 year old is teaming up with Sky Sports presenter Sarah Stirk to host the all-new podcast 'Putt And Strut', where he combines his love for golf with lively banter.

Looking back on his near-miss with a golfing career, Anton reflects: "I could quite happily have taken it up as a profession if I'd stumbled into it before dance because the two are very similar. You're always striving for the next level. You can't perfect golf, and dancing is the same thing."

His success in the dance world has, in fact, fine-tuned his golf game. Anton elaborates: "There's an element of correlation between golf and dance in motion, timing, rhythm, and movement. It's about the hips."

Considering what could've been, he muses: "If I had gone down the golf route, I would've approached it with the same fervor as dance - but whether it would've paid off, well, that's another story."
