Susan Boyle has surprised fans with a "determined" announcement 16 years after her star-making turn on Britain's Got Talent.
The singer originally rose to fame on the 2009 season of the show, and although she ended up coming second, Boyle has gone on to have a stellar recording career.
While celebrating her 64th birthday yesterday, the star took to her Instagram page to share a clip teasing that she is "back", accompanied by a sweet montage of herself.
Writing in the comments, Boyle went on to promise "something exciting" for fans – though remained tight-lipped on exactly what.
"Today’s a special day – it’s my birthday! But I’ve got something exciting to share… I’m back and working on some wonderful new projects that I can’t wait for you to hear about!" she wrote.
"More news will be coming very soon, but I just wanted to say how much I’ve missed you all. Your support means the world to me and I’m more determined and excited than ever. Love, Susan x."
Should it be new music, it will certainly be a long time coming, as it has been six years since Boyle's compilation album Ten, and nine years since she released her last original album A Wonderful World.
Fans shared their excitement in the comments, one writing: "Very happy to hear this. Welcome back!" while another added: "Welcome back. We missed you."
"SUSAN WE MISSSEDDD YOUUUUU," a third wrote, while a fourth said: "Happy birthday, dear Susan! I’m glad to know that you come back! Good luck! I’d like to listen to your wonderful voice!"
It comes nearly two years after Boyle returned to the BGT stage to perform 'I Dreamed A Dream', the song she originally sang in her audition.
The star revealed afterwards that she had suffered a minor stroke in 2022, explaining: "It’s extra special for me, last April I suffered a minor stroke and I fought to be back on stage and I have done it."
Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
