Sutton Stracke‘s biggest regret from her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — and in life — occurred during the series’ 12th season.

While appearing on an episode of Heather McDonald’s podcast last week, Sutton, 52, signaled her insensitive reaction to the terrifying home robbery Dorit Kemsley, 48, endured in October 2021 as her two young children, including son Jagger, 10, and daughter Phoenix, 8, slept, while her now-estranged husband, Paul “PK” Kemsley, 57, was out of the county.
“That was a bad, bad moment,” Sutton admitted during the September 12 episode of Juicy Scoop, via Heavy. “So awful. It was really not good. That was probably the lowest moment of my life, what I said.”
According to Sutton, she felt especially terrible about her response to the news due to the fact that her own father ended his life with a gun — and guns were present when Dorit was robbed of nearly $1 million worth of jewelry and other valuables as she begged for her life and the lives of her kids to be spared.
“So, for me to say that, flippantly, what was I thinking? It was terrible. A terrible moment for me,” she said, adding that one of the biggest “negatives” of the show is the cruel things she’s said to her castmates.
On the premiere episode of RHOBH season 12, which was filmed just one day after Dorit’s robbery, Sutton visited Kyle Richards’ home, where a devastated Kyle, 55, spoke of the “terrifying” incident and Sutton seemingly downplayed the situation, describing it as “weird” before moving on to her own life hardships.
As fans will recall, rather than offering compassion, Sutton said she had “been putting out fires all day” and complained about French fashion designers who were facing “immigration” red tape.
“But it might just be that kind of day,” she reasoned, leaving Kyle in shock.
“It’s all relative. I mean, I wasn’t held at gunpoint, sorry!” Sutton further noted.
While Sutton was consumed with her own work stress at the time, she later expressed regret over her “insensitive” behavior towards Dorit.
“I had a weird day and so I wasn’t focused and I was insensitive to what happened,” Sutton told Page Six in May 2022. “Once I kind of got my brain settled and understood the severity, I think contrite can only explain how I felt.”
Sutton then said she would never “want anything bad to happen to Dorit or her family.”
“None of us want anything bad to happen to any of us. That is the scariest thing and the environment that we live in, especially here in LA in Beverly Hills, it kind of set me off a little bit,” Sutton shared of her initial reaction. “I just wasn’t there. I wasn’t being present. And so I think insensitive is the best word for [my reaction to the break-in]. And I was very sorry for it.”
