Should The Wheel of Time fans be worried? Why is Sinners such a big deal? Is Andor too different from the rest of Star Wars, and does it matter? All this and more, below:
As usual, we have a lot to talk about on the latest episode of Take the Black, the weekly podcast where we discuss all things sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and books. Sometimes we talk about games in there, too; we're out of control.
Anyway, we have a laundry list of topics to hit this week, including:
- There are lots of interesting goings-on in Westeros, as House of the Dragon cast members get ready to film a huge battle scene and Kit Harington's old stand-in gets a new role. Also, there's a new Game of Thrones video game coming...but we find it hard to get too excited.
- Fans are getting the word out, but Amazon and Sony have yet to announce that The Wheel of Time will be coming back for more seasons. How worried should we be, and what does Amazon's failure to renew the show quickly say about how television has changed since the days of Game of Thrones?
- There's lots of new stuff out there to watch. Sinners has made huge waves at movie theaters despite not being a sequel or part of a franchise or anything. That's worth celebrating.
- We also have to talk about Star Wars: Andor, which is burning through its second and final season at an alarming rate! What does it mean that the best Star Wars show feels so little like Star Wars?
- Finally, how goes the zombie apocalypse over in The Last of Us? We check in on what has become a surprisingly controversial episode.
Watch us jaw about all that and more, below:
And of course, we run through all the other news fit to talk about in the WiC News Lightning Round.
