Jeannot is looking forward to taking the ice for Boston
The Boston Bruins were busy in free agency this offseason, as they worked on shoring up the depth of their roster. While there weren’t a ton of big contracts handed out, former Los Angeles Kings left wing Tanner Jeannot cashed in with a five-year, $17 million deal.
After going undrafted in the 2018 NHL Draft, Jeannot eventually latched on with the Nashville Predators in 2021, before spending time with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Kings. Last season, Jeannot tallied seven goals and six assists in 67 games with L.A.
While Jeannot’s numbers don’t jump off the page, he did score 24 goals back in the 2021-22 season with the Predators, and his gritty style of play makes him a perfect fit in Boston. In fact, that’s one of the main reasons why Jeannot opted to sign with the Bruins in free agency.
“Growing up, watching the teams that they had, they kind of embody the style that I like to try to bring each and every night,” Jeannot said of his decision to sign with the B’s on “NHL Tonight.” “I just thought that my style of game and the player I am could really go into an organization like that and have some success.”
The addition of Jeannot figures to help the B’s strengthen their bottom-six forward group, which will help take some of the pressure off Boston’s top lines. Even if Jeannot isn’t racking up points on a nightly basis, his ability to make life tough for whoever he’s going up against is precisely what the Bruins are looking for.
There were several things that didn’t go Boston’s way last season, so the team is looking to get back to the basics. Jeannot will help the team accomplish that, and the front office is hoping that he will be an immediate contributor after bringing him to town this offseason.
