Since confirming her relationship with Gaston Rojas, the Southern Charm cast member has repeatedly defended the romance against swirling rumors and criticism from her castmates. But what does Gaston think of all the negativity? Well, we recently got our answer.
Gaston sounds off on Southern Charm drama: "I'll put it this way..."
The Charleston couple addressed the drama during their weekend road trip to Charlotte, North Carolina. Taylor shared a peek at their travels in a February 28 Instagram Story while calling on fans to submit questions.
“Ask us anything. We are on the road for three hours,” she said before reading the first inquiry. “OK, this is a good one to start with: ‘How are y’all feeling about the way y’all are being portrayed so far??’”

The question seemed to reference the criticism Gaston has received from several Southern Charm-ers, most notably Taylor’s ex-boyfriend, Shep Rose.
“Want me to answer this one?” Gaston asked. “I’ll put it this way: I find it really funny that when there’s a camera around, a bunch of grown people decide to talk sh-t about someone that’s not on the cast, but when they see them in real life, they run in the other direction.”
Taylor co-signed her beau’s comment and insisted they were unfazed by the drama.
“True. And, also, the only thing that matters to me is the people who know us,” she said.

Shep shared his thoughts on Gaston in Southern Charm Season 10, Episode 2, saying he looked “like a villain from The Bourne Identity.” He also said Taylor’s family wished she was still dating him instead of Gaston — a claim Taylor has vehemently denied.
“I don’t think [Shep] has any room to speak about anything when it comes to relationship-wise, like anybody, and especially me,” Taylor told Decider in 2024. “So I’m just kind of like, ‘Keep your mouth shut, dude. Just do yourself and do everybody a favor here and keep your mouth shut because you’re not doing yourself any good with trying to make sense of who I’m dating or who I’ve dated in the past or anything like that.’”

But the drama didn’t stop there. Southern Charm newbie Salley Carson claimed she had dated Gaston shortly before he and Taylor became an item. And, let’s just say, the romance didn’t end well.
“I obviously don’t have anything good to say about [Gaston],” Salley said in Season 10, Episode 3. “But that’s my story. That might not be Taylor’s story … Me and Gaston, we dated for three months … Like, he was my person, and I thought I was his. But he was cheating the whole time.”
Taylor later insisted Salley and Gaston were never that serious, and dismissed the infidelity claim as a “lie.”
“I think seeing what people are saying, it’s more of just an eye roll for [Gaston],” Taylor told Decider. “He’s going, ‘I’m glad that I’ve made a decision to not be around these people because they’re all a little kooky.’”
