Teddi Mellencamp revealed the heartbreaking reason she only wears a wig occasionally as she continues to battle stage 4 cancer.
“The day to day decision of wig versus no wig. Crying days I tend to pick the wig,” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum captioned a photo of herself on Instagram wearing the blond hairpiece Tuesday.
Mellencamp, 43, then urged her 1.2 million followers to schedule their annual screenings in honor of Melanoma Awareness Month.
“The highs and lows of treatment for stage 4 brain and lung tumors are pretty extreme. Please go get your yearly checks,” she wrote.
“No better time than now to book and remind a friend or loved one.”
In March, the former Bravolebrity polled her fans on whether they preferred she wear a blond wig or show off her brunette buzz cut.
“Some days you feel like a wig, some days you don’t,” she shared in her caption at the time.
Mellencamp was first diagnosed with skin cancer in October 2022.
She then announced to her Instagram followers in February that doctors had found “multiple tumors” on her brain, and she had to undergo surgery to have some of them removed.
Following the procedure, Mellencamp’s estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, said the former reality star was “grateful” for all the support she has received.
However, Mellencamp revealed last month that she had stage 4 cancer after doctors found more tumors on her brain.
The “Two Ts in a Pod” co-host shared a few days later that she had a “50/50” chance of beating the disease.
She later gave a more “exciting” update about her diagnosis, saying her tumors had “significantly shrunk, which doctors believe means that this [treatment] all will work and that I will be back to myself and feeling good!”
Last week, Mellencamp showed off her buzz cut and surgery scars when she walked the red carpet at the Women’s Cancer Research Fund gala with her pal and former co-star Kyle Richards.
