Amber Portwood has started a new chapter in her love life.
The Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star revealed she’s been dating a new man “for over a month" in a TikTok Live captured and posted by fans on June 23, calling their romance "a good thing."
"He’s got a job for 20-something years, same exact job," Portwood shared, choosing to keep her man's name a secret. "He’s got this thick accent—mountain accent because he's from North Carolina—and he's super sweet to me."
The relationship comes one year after her dramatic breakup with Gary Wayt, who went missing amid their engagement while the pair were staying at a hotel in Bryson City, N.C.
"This is a huge deal," Portwood shared in a YouTube Live amid Gary's disappearance in June 2024. "We have not had explosive fights, we are in love. This man asked me to be with him. This man then asked me to marry him. I have not touched this man in any horrible way. He does not touch me in any horrible way. We do not yell at each other. We have a wonderful relationship."
Wayt was found in Oklahoma—over 900 miles away from where he was last spotted—days after Portwood reported him missing. She ultimately called off their engagement, later explaining on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter that she was still "f--ked up from what happened, what he did to me."
"That man left for no reason," Portwood tearfully shared in a September episode. "I'm in such a weird space that I've never been in. This rambling is so backward for me."
Explaining how she had been navigating her bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder diagnosis for over 15 years, Portwood said her short-lived engagement with Wayt "broke" her.
"I was stable," she continued. "Right now, this is the first time in years in my life I am not f--king right because a man put a ring on my finger."
Prior to her relationship with Wayt, Portwood dated Gary Shirley from 2008 to 2011. The two are parents to 16-year-old daughter Leah, who has publicly expressed her desires to be adopted by Gary's now-wife Kristina Shirley.
Portwood is also mom to 7-year-old son James with ex Andrew Glennon, who she dated from 2017 to 2019.
