Texans OC details how Stefon Diggs is 'a lot like' C.J. Stroud

The Houston Texans have had a busy offseason at the wide receiver position.

While it hasn't featured a plethora of moves, it has included one noteworthy trade to acquire Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills. The Texans sent a 2025 second-round pick to the Bills in exchange for Diggs, along with a 2024 sixth-round and 2025 fifth-round pick.

Pairing that with the three-year, $72.5M contract extension Nico Collins received from the Texans, and the Texans offense is primed to have tremendous upside in 2024.

While Diggs' time with the Texans is just getting underway, he's already received praise from the coaching staff, specifically offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. Diggs was called "great to work with" and "so competitive" by Slowik, who went on to detail how the wideout is very similar to Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, as Aaron Wilson of KPRC detailed.

“He is a lot like our quarterback in that he will do absolutely anything necessary to win the game, whether he doesn’t have the ball, he has the ball in his hands, at all times he is in between the white lines and doing everything he can to win," Slowik said of Diggs. "He is a good route runner. He has all the receiver traits you can ask for, but what jumps out to me and what fits with us and what we are always engaged with is how competitive guys are, how tough they are, and the style play they have.”

The Texans have one of the most exciting wide receiver groups in the NFL heading into the 2024 season, featuring Collins, Diggs and second-year pass-catcher Tank Dell. The addition of Diggs could open up a lot of field for Collins and Dell, as the former Bills wideout has topped the 1,000-yard receiving mark in the past six seasons, dating back to when he was with the Minnesota Vikings.

Over his four years in Buffalo, Diggs totaled 5,372 receiving yards and 37 total touchdowns. He racked up a stellar 1,535 receiving yards in 2020, his first season with the Bills, and scored double-digit touchdowns in 2021 and 2022.
