Texans veteran wide receiver is continuing to try and prove that he deserves to stay on the roster during OTAs

The Houston Texans kicked off Week 2 of OTAs this week, a thrilling time for fans to speculate on the potential of players and defenses, even if they're not playing at full intensity. The addition of Stefon Diggs, a top-tier wide receiver acquired from the Buffalo Bills, has injected a new level of excitement into the team. Paired with the promising talents of Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and C.J. Stroud, the Texans' wide receiver lineup is set to dazzle.

They have firmly forced themselves into the conversation of Super Bowl contenders, but more moves could be made.

With the recent addition of Diggs, the Texans have demonstrated their clear intent to bolster their roster. This move, however, has led to an increase in the number of wide receivers on the depth chart. Currently, the team has 11 wide receivers, a figure that needs to be reduced. This task, while undoubtedly challenging, is one that the team is resolutely committed to addressing.

The team could consider various strategies to manage its wide receiver count. One option is to trade a player, such as John Metchie, who has garnered interest from other teams. Alternatively, they could opt to cut a player, a decision that would streamline the team's roster.

These strategic moves, once implemented, will undoubtedly reshape the team's dynamics and strategies. The acquisition of Stefon Diggs has sparked a discussion among the fan base about the potential departure of veteran wide receiver Robert Woods. According to Over the Cap, the Texans could free up $4.9 million in cap space by cutting Woods, and $6.5 million if they traded him. These potential changes in the roster could significantly alter the team's financial flexibility and on-field performance.

Woods served his purpose on the Texans. He made some big plays and was a good option after Dell went down. However, they don't really need him anymore and need his cap savings, so that's another reason the fan base has seemingly turned on him.

But the veteran wide receiver is making some pretty nice plays at OTAs.

Now, like we love to do with OTA clips and overreact, it's important to note that this is against guys playing dummy defense with almost no contact. However, Woods still made an impressive play, as he continues to show why he thinks he should be on the roster.
